An abandoned alluvial gold field, documented around 1860 and largely intact with an off grid cabin near Moonambel, between Avoca and Ararat in NW Victoria.

I have inspected the old diggings with Michelle of Goldfields Guide and she has researched the site. It has numerous old shafts and pits and is in an ancient creek bed in the runoff from nearby hills with gold bearing quartz.

The cabin is basic but liveable with a current solar system with batteries and gas hot water and heating. There are several sheds and a functional caravan on site also.

The former resident was not a prospector, but enjoyed the site as a getaway from city life.

It's peaceful, private and the perfect spot to chill out. Ararat and Avoca are easily reached for your daily supplies.
